Glossary

Key terms and concepts used throughout Skryrún.

A

Anchor
A world entity (NPC, location, faction, or item) that a character has a meaningful stake in — something they would fight to protect or fear losing. Anchors drive the Stakes Dashboard.Learn more →
Arc
A structured record of a character's emotional or narrative journey through the campaign — what they started as, key moments of change, and the branch they took. An arc records what happened; it does not script what should happen.Learn more →
Article
The rich text content attached to an entity. Articles support formatting, wikilinks, images, and block sections.Learn more →

B

Backstory
Player-authored content about their character's history before the campaign begins. Backstory articles live in a private space until the GM approves and canonizes them into the world.Learn more →
Block
A structured data section attached to an entity — personality traits, equipment, secrets, hooks, or stat blocks. Blocks sit below the article body and can be toggled visible or hidden from players.Learn more →

C

Campaign
A play group within a world. A single world can have multiple campaigns running simultaneously in the same setting, each with their own players, characters, and progress.
Canonization
The process of approving a player's backstory article and making it a permanent entity in the GM's world. Once canonized, the article appears in the world graph and timeline.Learn more →
Chronicler

A session prep tool for assembling combat encounters from your world's stat blocks, with system-aware difficulty tracking and a live combat tracker.Learn more →

I

A visual network of every entity and connection in your world, built automatically from wikilinks and explicit relationships. Accessible from the Graph view.Learn more →

A floating AI panel available to Runekeeper subscribers — includes a world-aware Q&A chat and a lore generation tool that draws on your world's entities as context.Learn more →

M

Map Token
A pinned marker on an interactive world map, linked to an entity or labeled manually. Token visibility is controlled per tier — the GM can reveal tokens to players progressively.Learn more →
Marketplace
A community platform for publishing and downloading world content — complete worlds, adventure modules, NPC packs, and stat blocks. Free and premium listings available.Learn more →

N

Narrative Thread
A tracked story element that runs across multiple sessions — a mystery, a faction conflict, a character promise. Threads can be opened, advanced, and resolved from the Debrief.Learn more →
NPC Notes
Private GM-only notes attached to an NPC entity — separate from the public article. Notes are never visible to players and are optimized for quick session reference.Learn more →

P

Player Portal
A read-only view of your world that players access via their campaign link. The portal respects visibility settings — players only see entities and content the GM has made visible to them.Learn more →

A per-world image library for NPC art. Portraits are tagged by species, gender, archetype, and style so GMs can quickly find matching art when creating or updating NPCs.Learn more →

R
